REE-Free Permanent Magnets

MagNEO

Developing robust and sustainable rare earth element (REE)-free permanent magnets using novel compositions of AlNiCo and high entropy alloys (HEAs) through additive manufacturing. Leveraging open-source modeling and machine learning-guided high-throughput screening to achieve performance targets of (BH)max ≥60-72 kJ/m³. Applications include low-speed generators for wind turbines and ship propulsion, high-speed rotors in heat pumps, and automotive ABS sensors and headlight systems. 16-partner consortium coordinated by SINTEF AS with emphasis on sustainable recycling and cobalt recovery.
